How to make it

  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the lean ground beef, finely grated or minced onion, minced garlic, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  2. Optional: season with ground cumin, ground coriander, dried oregano and chopped fresh parsley.
  3. Mix the ingredients thoroughly until well combined.
  4. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a kofte (ground meat long patty).
  5. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat and add a bit of olive oil.
  6. Place the kofte patties in the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they are cooked through and nicely browned.
  7. In a small bowl, mix the Greek yogurt, lemon juice, chopped fresh mint or dill, salt, and black pepper to prepare the yogurt sauce.
  8. Once the kofte patties are cooked, remove them from the skillet and let them rest for a minute.
  9. Drizzle the yogurt sauce over the kofte.
