How to make it

  1. In a small bowl, mix together the low-sodium soy sauce, hoisin sauce, honey or brown sugar, and red pepper flakes. Set aside.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the minced garlic and ginger to the skillet and sauté for about 30 seconds, or until fragrant.
  4. Add the 6oz of lean ground beef to the skillet and cook, breaking it apart with a spatula, until it's browned and cooked through.
  5. Pour the sauce mixture over the cooked ground beef and stir to combine. Allow the mixture to simmer for another minute or two to absorb the flavors.
  6. Remove the skillet from the heat.
  7. Serve the Mongolian ground beef over a bed of cooked quinoa or brown rice.
  8. Garnish with sliced green onions and sesame seeds for added flavor and texture.
  9. Serve the Mongolian ground beef with rice and steamed broccoli or your choice of vegetables on the side.
